Review: HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 4645 e-All-in-One Printer

HP launched the Deskjet Ink Advantage 4645 e-All-in-One a while ago and we received a sample unit for review at Review Central Labs. As the name suggests, the IA 4645 is an all-in-one printer that is designed for users looking for home office productivity. It’s a wireless e-all-in-one that offers good quality printing and multipage scan, automatic two-sided printing, copy, and fax capabilities.

The design of the 4645 printer is pretty neat, considering that it is made home or home office use. Inside the box, the HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 4645 e-All-in-One Printer comes with HP 650 Black Ink Cartridge, HP 650 Tri-color Ink Cartridge, Software CD, quick start and setup guide, power cord, phone cord, and a USB cable.

Setting up the printer was a breeze. All you do is install the drivers, connect the printer through USB cable to your PC or laptop, install the cartridges, let the printer calibrate and when everything goes well, it prints out a self test to let you know all is well. The 4645 is a wireless all-in-one, which essentially means that once the printer is on your home network, devices connected to your network will be able to access the printer at all times.

The 4645 allows you to efficiently print, scan, copy, and fax wirelessly, from PCs and laptops. It also allows you to print from mobile devices directly. The printer comes with a 35-page automatic document feeder, which lets you fax, scan, and copy multipage documents, with ease. The HP All-in-One Remote app allows you to access the printer using mobile devices. Since the 4645 also comes with AirPrint, you can also use any iOS device through a wireless network or e-print, to print from anywhere.

While the 4645 is feature-packed, it is also quite productive. During our real world tests, we printed in both colour, and black and white, to gauge the printing speed of the 4645 all-in-one. When printing colour documents in best quality, we clocked around 4 pages per minute, while in draft mode, the printer was able to print colour documents at the speed of 15 pages per minute. When printing black and white documents in best quality, we were able to get 7 pages per minute, while in draft mode, we clocked around 20 pages per minute.

Looking at the features it offers and the kind of performance, the HP IA 4645 e-All-in-One Printer is indeed a good device. The connectivity options it offers is quite good. If you are on a lookout for a good all-in-one for home and home office use, the HP IA 4645 should be on your shortlist.

  1. I have this printer. I am very satisfied with it. Mainly the HPeprint feature where you just need to send an email from anywhere to an id and the Printer starts printing from home. Wireless printing from my iphone ipad is also awesome. I recommend this

  2. Does this save the faxes it receive to PDF?
